Kia ora ,
Wow - today is March; it feels like 2024 is already flying by very fast!
We have a lot going on this month, so here are the bullet points:
1 March –
Kiwi Game Starter entries are now open. This is your chance to get your game in front of judges and win cold hard cash. Kiwi Game Starter will run like it has in the past; however, this year we have split it into 3 categories: PC/Steam, Mobile, and Realities. Entries close late June, and winners will be announced at NZGDC on October 19th.
Studio Manager Stand-ups on 5th March. I am hosting 3 sessions with our member studio managers. I will let attendees know what NZGDA’s focuses will be in 2024 and also look for direction from our studios as to the kind of connections they would like me to bring back from GDC.
AWS + Studio Managerswebinar on 6th March – another great opportunity to get involved with what NZGDA is doing and help inform us of the AWS features that the industry does and doesn’t need when it comes to what they provide and how they provide it. I have been working with AWS over the previous 4 months to pull together a member offer, and this session is your chance to make sure we have the offer right.
8 March – Speaker submissions for NZGDC open. We are looking for speakers to share their experiences and knowledge at NZGDC. So, if you have a talk in mind, why not flesh it out over the next week and keep an eye out for our announcement on the 8th March inviting speakers to submit their talks!
GDC 18-22 March - I am hugely excited to be heading to GDC as part of our work program this year. The reason for attending is specifically to meet people and create relationships that our members can tap into. If there is a company or service that you would like introductions to, please email me who they are, and I will endeavor to reach out to them and make that connection.
Webinar: Accounting for the GDSR – 25th March. Our very own Lance Burgess will take you through the do’s and don’ts of accounting with the GDSR in mind. Lance is the CFO of PikPok and has put a lot of time into securing the GDSR for the industry, so who better to give you some tips and insights with the financial year in mind.
That’s it for now, remember to keep an eye on our events page as events are being added all the time, and if you have an event you would like us to include, send the details to
